Women Providing Healing, Promoting Hope!

March is Women’s History Month! It’s a time when we focus on all of the important contributions women have made to society.

Each year, the National Women’s History Alliance designates a theme for Women’s History Month.

This year’s theme is “Women Providing Healing, Promoting Hope.”

It’s a tribute to women’s ceaseless work throughout the pandemic and throughout history.

In most cultures, healers and caregivers have predominantly been women. In this way, and in so many others, women have served as a beacon of hope.

However, this type of work can be draining and thankless at times.

It’s important that women remember to turn that love and care inward and find ways to nurture ourselves. Do it for yourself. If this feels hard at first, remind yourself that you can’t give to anyone from an empty cup.

If you’ve been running on empty, Women’s History Month is the perfect time to stop and refuel.

Here are a few suggestions to get your self-care started.

  1. Ask for what you need. We can get so used to giving that we are uncomfortable receiving. Get used to accepting love and asking directly for what you need.

  2. Pencil yourself in. Are you on your family's calendar? You schedule play dates, soccer practice, and birthdays. Put some time for yourself on the calendar and make it a priority to keep the date!

  3. Prioritize sleep. According to SingleCare, the average person gets less than seven hours of sleep each night. Take gradual steps to improve your sleep hygiene. Soon you’ll be feeling like a new woman!

At Lifting the Burden, we know what it’s like to have too much on your plate. If your chores and errands are adding an extra load to your already full plate, we’ll do them for you! Let us lighten your load. We want you to take care of yourself and keep shining.

When women are well, the world is a better place.
